Output parameters

Fewer colors = smoother, but slightly larger
Add at least two frames before tuning parameters.
ⓘ
About this encoder: GIF89a palette quantization, LZW compression and frame control blocks are all implemented in this page — no external libraries, and images never leave your device. GIF itself only supports 256 colors and binary (fully transparent / opaque) alpha, so photos show banding; gradients and semi-transparency can't be reproduced. Browsers commonly treat anything under 20m

How to use

  1. Drop in a set of images, or upload a video
  2. Set frame rate, trim range, size and color count; enable dithering if needed
  3. Generate, preview and download the GIF

FAQ

Why are GIFs so big?
GIF is capped at 256 colors with weak compression. Try animated WebP or reduce size/frame rate.

My video won't load?
The browser may not decode that codec (some HEVC files). Re-export as H.264 MP4.

Everything runs locally in your browser — files are never uploaded. BoxKit VIP unlocks unlimited use of all 29 tools.
